3 T's of Chiropractic, Traumas, Toxins and Thoughts.
Chiropractic has an amazing ability to assist the body to heal from the inside out. It takes on a natural approach to improve our bodies nervous system, which is crucial to send messages between the brain and the body. Therefore, a Chiropractors main focus is to find areas in the spine that are causing blockages between the brain and the body known as subluxations, or the cause of symptoms you may be experiencing.
D.D. Palmer, the man who established Chiropractic, believed there were 3 T’s to Chiropractic. These are commonly known as Traumas, Toxins and Thoughts.
Traumas; These can vary, but generally are those caused by such things as sports injuries, car accidents, sitting at a desk for long periods of time, or can even be the trauma of childbirth. It can also include what we call microtraumas, actions such as your sleeping position, ‘text neck’, looking down at your phone or computer, and an incredibly important one, posture. These can happen daily without pain but left untreated can create bigger issues.
Toxins; These are described as the substances we put into our body and environmental toxins. The food we eat and our diets, the air pollution we may consume and prescriptions and other pharmaceuticals.
Thoughts; These can include a variety of factors such as our hectic lifestyles, emotional stress, feelings of anxiety or depression and even having long days or troubles with loved ones. It is important to know that whilst our bodies can be in a sympathetic state ‘fight or flight’, this is a response that should only be temporary. Having our body in a constant state of alertness can have a negative impact on our health.
With anything we do with our health, healing takes time. When you break your arm for example, it takes the body 8 weeks to heal. When we start eating healthier, it normally takes weeks for us to notice any changes or weight loss. There is no quick fix to better health. Our aim here at My Chiro is to educate everyone on how important their nervous system is and what we can do to better our overall health.
With regular corrections, we aim to better the nerve pathways to make sure your body is working at its optimum and help you achieve your health goals.
If you’d like to come and see how your nervous system is functioning, give our team a call. I look forward to connecting with you on this journey.
